Legal · data deletion

Delete your data.

Close your account from your dashboard, or email us if you can't sign in. Either way, everything is permanently deleted 30 days later.

From your dashboard (recommended)

  1. Sign in at coil.tattoo/signin
  2. Go to Dashboard → Settings
  3. Under Your data, click Close my account
  4. Type DELETE to confirm

Your plan is cancelled and your site and booking page go offline straight away. Thirty days later your account, your site and everything in them are permanently deleted. Until then you can email hello@coil.tattoo to restore the account.

Only the account's owner can close it. If you work in someone else's shop, ask the owner to remove you from their chairs: your site and clients move to an account of your own, which you can then keep or close. A shop owner removes the shop's other artists first, so nobody else's site or clients go with the shop.

From Instagram

If you connected your Instagram to coil and want to revoke that connection alone (without closing your coil account):

  1. Open Instagram → Settings and privacy
  2. Apps and websites → Active
  3. Find coil → tap Remove

Instagram notifies us automatically. Your coil access token is revoked and we stop syncing your portfolio. Your coil account stays active so you can reconnect later or close it from your dashboard.

By email

Can't access your account? Email us with the subject “Delete my data” from the email address tied to your account:

hello@coil.tattoo

We'll close the account within 7 business days and email you to confirm. It's then permanently deleted 30 days later, the same as closing it yourself.

What gets deleted

  • Your sign-in and account profile (if you also work on another coil account, your sign-in stays for that one)
  • Your site: portfolio photos and videos, captions, AI-generated tags, logos, services, flash and store items
  • Booking requests, client records, texts and Instagram messages, and the photos clients sent you
  • Appointments, consent forms with signatures and photo IDs, deposits, tips, income and expense records
  • Reviews, aftercare messages, waitlists and mailing list subscribers
  • Your Instagram connection; your coil phone number is released

Consent forms go too. Your state may require you to keep signed consent forms for years, so download them from the Consent page in your dashboard before you close the account.

What we retain

Stripe keeps its own records of payments and payouts for tax and anti-fraud reasons. That is outside our control, and your Stripe account stays yours. Twilio and our email provider, Resend, keep their own delivery logs of the texts and emails we sent, under their own retention rules.

Sentry error reports carry a random user ID, never your name or email, and Sentry deletes them within 90 days. PostHog, our product analytics, links the pages you used to the email you signed in with and keeps them under its own retention rules; email us and we'll delete them there too.

We keep a one-line record that the deletion ran: an internal account number, the dates and how much was deleted. Nothing in it identifies you.
