Copyright.

Tattooers post their own work on coil. If you think something here uses your work without permission, tell us and we'll look at it quickly. We follow the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Report work that's yours

Send a notice to our copyright agent (below) with:

  1. The work you own (a link or a description of it).
  2. The page on coil where it appears (the full link).
  3. Your name, mailing address, phone number and email.
  4. This statement: “I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”
  5. This statement: “The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of the copyright that is allegedly infringed.”
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).

We remove or disable the material and tell the person who posted it. Sending a notice you know is false can make you liable for damages.

If your work was taken down

If you believe it was removed by mistake or you have the right to use it, send our agent a counter-notice with: what was removed and where it was; this statement, “I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled”; your name, address and phone number; a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the US, any district where coil may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice; and your signature.

We pass it to the person who sent the notice and put the material back in 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they've gone to court.

Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of people who repeatedly post work that isn't theirs.
